April 12th was a memorable day here in Imperia: the brand-new bike path crossing the city was finally inaugurated! It’s a project we’ve been waiting for for years – and now we’re thrilled to share it with all our guests at Relais del Maro.
🌿 Ride Between the Sea and Olive Trees
The path stretches for 9 kilometers, from the Galeazza area all the way to San Lorenzo al Mare, where it connects with the already famous Riviera dei Fiori Cycle Path – one of the most scenic in all of Italy.
The best part? It’s completely separated from traffic, weaving through sea views, charming villages, and peaceful nature. It’s perfect for everyone – whether you’re a seasoned cyclist, a family with kids, or just in the mood for a relaxing ride with a view.
🚲 How to Get There from Relais del Maro
Our Relais is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Borgomaro, and reaching the new path is easy:
By car: We’re just 20 minutes from Imperia, and there’s convenient parking near several access points (we recommend the area near the old Porto Maurizio train station).
By bike: For those who enjoy a challenge, start your ride right from our front door! The scenic route through the valleys down to the sea is a real treat.
And if you don’t have a bike with you, we’ll be happy to help arrange a rental – just ask at the front desk!
🥐 Local Tips from Relais del Maro
If you’re planning to explore the path, here are a few Relais del Maro-approved tips to make the most of your ride:
- ☕ Breakfast to go: Ask us for a little “cyclist kit” with healthy snacks, fresh fruit, and a bottle of water (or some of our homemade juice!).
- 📸 Scenic stop: Pause at Galeazza for a breathtaking photo – the sea view is unforgettable.
- 🍋 Cool-down break: There are kiosks and cafés along the way, but we highly recommend a handmade gelato at I Gelati di Fè, just steps from the path.
- 🌅 Golden hour on wheels: Riding at sunset is pure magic – the light dancing on the water is postcard-perfect.
